School of Thought

Last week, I found myself juggling four different employments. I didn't intend to wind up in that situation but, hey, I'm badly in need of a cash-boost.

One of the jobs was as a substitute teacher in my old primary school. Over the course of the two days I spent there, at the helm of a classroom and taking lunch-breaks in the sacred Staff Room of my youth, I realised two things:

1. Young children see their primary-school teachers as all-knowing moral compasses.

2. Primary-school teachers, including those who taught me, are not all-knowing moral compasses.

I wish I was all-knowing ....maybe if tiny people think I am, I'll be happy!
