I wrangled a ticket to the Choice Music Prize ceremony in Vicar Street, taking advantage of poor Eimear's misfortune in not being able to accept her last minute invite.
As predicted by the bookies, Jape took home the prize for their album 'Ritual', although the result was by no mean a foregone conclusion as the judges eventually had to resort to a secret ballot in order to determine the winner.
The standard of performances on the night was fantastic. Mick Flannery is not the type of artist I would generally listen to but I thoroughly enjoyed his set and Fight Like Apes demonstrated that they've come an awful long way since representing DCU at the intervarsity 'Battle of the Bands' this time two years ago.
Performance of the night was easily R.S.A.G. though. One man, a drumkit, pre-recorded samples and visuals all combined for a roller-coaster ride over the course of three songs.
R.S.A.G. is one of those acts that are incredible live but I might not listen to all that much on my ipod (a bit like like Camille O' Sullivan or Duke Special). Definitely one to watch.
R.S.A.G. TV on MUZU.
