Just Like A Pill

An artist I've watched with keen interest since first being introduced to him by Illegal Tender in early 2009 is electro whizz-kid The Aspirins For My Children.

Eimear and I played some of his earlier tracks like 'Hollow Out' and 'Cutter' to death but then, after a clutch of great remixes for the likes of Frankmusik and Marina & The Diamonds, it all got very quiet and seemed as though The Aspirins had been, um, swallowed.

Thankfully, in the past couple of months, TAFMC (aka 23-year-old Daniel Barker) has returned with a clutch of new material, including collaborations with the rather brilliant Talking Pictures.

The Good Natured - Your Body Is A Machine (The Aspirins For My Children Remix)

Good Things Come...

Things are looking pretty, ahem, rosy for the The Good Natured these days. After recently nabbing a spot on the Kitsuné Maison's latest compilation, London lass Sarah McIntosh has finally served up her first music video for 'Your Body Is A Machine'.

A pretty lovely video it is too, with McIntosh's elfin quality really complementing the magic at play:

Back in 2007, I had a short-lived but rather intense love affair with the music of Kate Nash. The story goes that Kate fell down the stairs, broke her leg, and, out of sheer boredom, picked up a guitar and penned the collection of songs that were the basis for her tragically over-produced debut album, 'Made of Bricks'.

Had it been a synthesizer and not a guitar that Kate had chosen to use in writing the songs, I imagine the demos she produced would have sounded something like The Good Natured. Although 19-year-old Sarah McIntosh's London accent is perhaps not as grating as poor Kate's, there's more tham a passing similarity between the two girls' voices.

Teaming shimmery synths, staccato drumbeats and heartfelt lyrics, McIntosh's music is both absorbing and addictive. Each new track she posts on her Myspace is better than the next and she's definitely worth earmarking as one to watch.
