Robyn vs. Yelle

As you can see, I'm having great fun fiddling around with Photoshop these days.

On this occasion, my tinkering is in honour of French electro-minx Yelle's interpretation of Robyn's 'Who's That Girl?'. Yelle has translated the tune into her native tongue, adding a dirty bassline, and the results are quite fantastic.

Somewhat appropriately, I discovered this track courtesy of 'Who's That Girl?', one of the select few blogs I follow religiously.

Good Regina, Bad Regina

Team Spektor appear to have carried out some pretty savvy damage control after the decidedly mixed reception that greeted 'Laughing With', the first single off Regina's upcoming album 'Far'.

A viral video for 'Dance Anthem of the 80's' has surfaced and both the video and the track itself possess some of the charming rawness that made me fall for her older stuff.

'Laughing With' has been given a very different treatment. It's a polished, cutesy video, a lot more likely to be played on MTV than the above clip. The track is a bit too 'safe' for my liking though. It's got the potential to get massive airplay on the likes of Q102 and, in my books, this is not a good thing.

"It's Her Fixation On Death That Makes Death Fixate On Her"

I've been toying around with Photoshop lately but I think it'd take some amount of practice to be anywhere near as good as Brooke Shaden.

Her eerie self-portraits are wonderfully imaginative and showcase some of the most impressive digital image manipulation skills I've come across. Check her Flickr out for the full collection to date.
